Imaging XPS with the NanoESCA on a polycrystalline sample of Al0.98Sn0.02 at room temperature. The photoelectron image is taken at the Al 2p core-level energy (Ekin= 116.4 eV, EPhoton= 200 eV, FOV 40 µm). It is part of a series of energy-filtered pictures taken during an energy scan across the core-level. Besides the topology the image shows different and clearly distinguishable grains that "lighten up" successively as bright areas during the energy scan. The spectra measured on different grains display small shifts in binding energy of the Al 2p peak of about 10-50 meV.
